Industrial Centrifugal Blowers in Kuwait

Kuwait’s industry is built around oil, gas, and petrochemicals, with power, water, and a supporting fabrication and logistics sector. Two conditions dominate blower specification here: extensive hazardous areas in oil and gas facilities, and extreme heat combined with frequent dust storms. This page covers both, along with the range of ordinary combustion, cooling, and ventilation duties that make up most of the demand.

Extreme Heat and Air Density

Kuwait’s summer air temperatures reach 50 °C at close to sea level. At 50 °C, air density is about 1.09 kg/m³, roughly 91% of standard.

Example. A process duty needs 350 mm WC actual pressure. At 91% of standard density, the equivalent standard-air rating is 350 × 1.204 ÷ 1.092 ≈ 386 mm WC. At this ambient temperature, also check motor and coating temperature limits, since standard equipment is often rated for ambient temperatures up to about 40 °C. See gas temperature, altitude and density correction.

Hazardous Areas in Oil, Gas, and Petrochemicals

Oil and gas facilities classify large parts of their site into hazardous zones, and NextAir Systems does not currently manufacture ATEX-certified or AMCA 99 spark-resistant blowers. A standard blower is only suitable where the blower and its motor sit outside any classified zone. Tell us the zone classification and where the blower sits relative to it, and we will tell you plainly and promptly what we can supply for your project. See combustible dust and hazardous atmospheres and oil, gas and refineries.

Dust Storms

Kuwait experiences frequent dust storms that coat equipment and load filters. For blowers this means faster deposit build-up, unbalanced wheels, and quicker filter loading on supply fans. Use intake filtration or placement away from dust where practical, allow cleaning access, and monitor vibration. See maintaining industrial blowers.

Pump Houses, Compressor Houses, and Cooling

Non-classified buildings in oil and gas facilities need ventilation for heat and dilution of small releases, and process cooling skids serve equipment ahead of filters and catalysts, often in duty and standby pairs. See ventilation and exhaust and cooling air.

Power, Water, and Industrial Buildings

Power and water plants, workshops, and industrial buildings need combustion air for auxiliary boilers, heat-removal ventilation, and clean, cool air for electrical rooms. See power plants and ventilation and exhaust.

Corrosion

Coastal humidity and salt, along with process fumes, corrode standard finishes. Select coatings, fasteners, and motor protection for the environment, particularly on scrubber and cooling duties handling wet gas. See fume extraction and scrubber systems.

Electrical Rooms and Substations

Substations and switchgear rooms across Kuwait’s industrial sites are cooled and kept under positive pressure with filtered air so dust does not enter. The supply blower works against filters that load quickly in dust-storm season, so it must deliver its flow at the fouled resistance and stay clear of instability as filters clog. Fit a differential-pressure gauge across the filter, and plan for duty and standby fans where cooling failure would trip critical equipment. See ventilation and exhaust.

Documentation and Due Diligence for Hazardous Duty

For a blower near a classified area, paperwork matters as much as hardware. A specialist-supplied ATEX blower should carry marking showing its group, category, gas group, and temperature class, with documentation demonstrating suitability. The end user still has a responsibility to check that the equipment, marking, and documents match the zone and conditions, and we can help confirm where our standard equipment’s boundary sits relative to that zone. See combustible dust and hazardous atmospheres.

Where Our Range Fits

NextAir Systems manufactures centrifugal blowers up to 800 HP (about 597 kW) and up to 500 mm WC (about 4.9 kPa) static pressure, with backward-curved and forward-curved wheels, single-inlet and double-inlet designs, and high-temperature blowers for furnaces up to 800 °C, kilns up to 650 °C, and ovens up to 500 °C. That covers combustion air, cooling, and ventilation duties in non-classified areas of Kuwaiti industry.

Standardising Across Multiple Sites

Kuwaiti industrial groups operating several plants benefit from standardising blower models across sites, which simplifies spares holding and lets maintenance staff move between plants without relearning equipment. Before specifying a new duty, check whether a model already used elsewhere in the group covers it.

What to Specify

  1. Hazardous-area zone, where the blower sits relative to it.
  2. Design ambient temperature, up to 50 °C.
  3. Duty: combustion air, cooling, ventilation, or dust collection.
  4. Dust conditions and intake filtration.
  5. Coating and corrosion environment.

Power and Desalination Plants

Kuwait’s power and desalination plants, often combined on the same site, need combustion air for auxiliary boilers, process cooling for water treatment stages, and building ventilation, corrected for the site’s extreme summer heat. See power plants.

Fabrication and Workshop Ventilation

Kuwait’s fabrication yards and workshops supporting the oil and gas sector need welding-fume extraction, general ventilation, and equipment cooling, all standard blower duties outside classified areas, corrected for the local heat and dust, and typically sized in the low to medium pressure classes with modest airflow compared with the process duties elsewhere on a refinery or petrochemical site. See fume extraction and scrubber systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does 50 °C ambient affect blower selection?

Air density falls to about 91% of standard, so blowers develop less pressure at the same speed, and motor and coating temperature limits need checking.

Is spark-resistant construction enough for a classified area?

No. AMCA 99 classifies construction levels, but ATEX classifies equipment by group, category, and zone, and hazardous-area duty needs an assessment.

Who decides the zone classification?

The plant operator, normally through a hazardous-area study, not the blower supplier.

How do dust storms affect blowers?

They deposit dust on wheels, load filters, and can erode blades, so plan filtration, cleaning access, and vibration monitoring.

Can you supply blowers for hazardous zones?

Not currently. We supply standard blowers for non-classified positions, and we will say so plainly where a duty needs a specialist supplier.
