Industrial Centrifugal Blowers in the UAE
The UAE combines heavy industry, such as steel and aluminium, with dense ports and logistics, all in a hot, humid, coastal climate. Centrifugal blowers here work in two demanding directions at once: heat and altitude affect pressure and airflow calculations, while humidity and salt air attack materials that aren’t built for it. This page sets out both, and the range of applications a general-purpose blower covers across the Emirates.
Coastal Heat and Density
Summer air in Dubai and Abu Dhabi reaches about 45 °C at sea level, giving a density of about 1.11 kg/m³, roughly 92% of standard.
Example. A process duty needs 350 mm WC actual pressure. At 92% of standard density, the standard-air rating needed is 350 × 1.204 ÷ 1.109 ≈ 380 mm WC, comfortably within our 500 mm WC standard maximum. See gas temperature, altitude and density correction.
Steel and Aluminium
UAE steel and aluminium plants need furnace combustion air, casthouse and equipment cooling, and general ventilation, with the largest melt-shop pollution-control and dedusting fans outside our range. See steel plants and foundries and non-ferrous metals.
Ports and Logistics
The UAE’s ports and free-zone logistics parks have large warehouses with heavy heat loads. Roof and general ventilation, filtered supply to control rooms, and cooling for equipment are ordinary centrifugal blower duties, corrected for the coastal heat. See ventilation and exhaust.
Coastal Corrosion
Salt-laden humid air corrodes standard finishes and attacks bearings and fasteners. Coastal installations benefit from durable coating systems, protected fasteners, sealed motors with suitable ingress protection, and drained casings. This matters particularly for scrubber and cooling applications where the gas itself is wet. See fume extraction and scrubber systems.
Building Materials and Manufacturing
Cement, glass, and general manufacturing in the UAE need combustion air, drying, and dust collection, following the same patterns as elsewhere, corrected for the local heat and humidity. See cement plants and glass, ceramics and refractories.
Hazardous Areas
NextAir Systems does not currently manufacture ATEX-certified or AMCA 99 spark-resistant blowers. The UAE’s oil, gas, and petrochemical sites have extensive classified areas, so confirm the zone before specifying, and we will tell you plainly whether a standard blower suits your duty.
Energy Cost
Electricity is a real operating cost across UAE industry, and blowers running long hours at variable load benefit from speed control, which saves energy following the cube law rather than throttling with a damper. See flow control for blowers.
Mining and Aggregate Processing
Aggregate and mineral processing for the UAE’s construction sector needs dust collection at crushers and screens, and drying for some processed materials, following the same patterns described for mining generally. See mining and mineral processing.
Verifying Performance After Installation
Once a blower is installed, measure its airflow and pressure against the curve, confirm rotation, and record baseline vibration and motor current. In a hot climate, check the operating point against the density-corrected curve rather than the standard-air figure on the nameplate, since a blower that looks under-delivering at commissioning may simply be running at the true site density. See blower curves, system curves and operating point drift.
Where Our Range Fits
NextAir Systems manufactures centrifugal blowers up to 800 HP (about 597 kW) and up to 500 mm WC (about 4.9 kPa) static pressure, with backward-curved and forward-curved wheels, single-inlet and double-inlet designs, and high-temperature blowers for furnaces up to 800 °C, kilns up to 650 °C, and ovens up to 500 °C. That covers combustion air, cooling, drying, and dust collection across UAE industry and logistics, in non-classified areas.
Standard Versus High-Temperature Construction
Many UAE industrial duties involve gas above ambient temperature, particularly in steel and aluminium, and it is worth checking early whether a duty needs our high-temperature construction or is ordinary combustion air drawing from ambient conditions. Combustion air blowers handle cold air even when they feed a furnace running at 800 °C, so only fans that move hot gas or hot recirculation air directly need the high-temperature range. See furnaces, kilns and ovens.
What to Specify
- Design ambient temperature and coastal exposure.
- Duty: combustion air, cooling, drying, or dust collection.
- Coating system and motor protection for coastal duty.
- Hazardous-area classification, if any.
- Control approach and noise limits.
Free Zones and Rapid Project Timelines
Many UAE industrial and logistics facilities are built in free zones under fast project schedules, where equipment lead time matters as much as technical fit. Confirming the duty, the zone classification, and the site conditions early, before the mechanical design is frozen, avoids late changes that can delay a tight schedule. Where several similar buildings are being fitted out across a free zone or industrial park, standardising on a small number of blower models simplifies procurement and shortens the specification cycle for each new building.
Aviation, Marine, and Specialist Manufacturing
The UAE’s aviation maintenance, marine, and specialist manufacturing sectors need general ventilation, process air for finishing and coating lines, and cooling for equipment, much of it in large hangar-style buildings with heavy heat loads and significant make-up air requirements. See ventilation and exhaust and industrial drying and process air. These buildings often have very large door openings that stay open for long periods during operations, which changes the make-up air balance significantly compared with a sealed industrial hall, so ventilation design should account for that variability rather than assuming a fixed leakage figure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does UAE heat affect blower selection?
At 45 °C and sea level, air density is about 92% of standard, so a 350 mm WC duty needs about 380 mm WC at standard air.
Do coastal UAE sites need special blower materials?
Usually yes, since salt-laden humid air corrodes standard finishes, so specify durable coatings, protected fasteners, and sealed motors.
Can you supply blowers for UAE petrochemical plants?
Only outside classified zones. We do not currently manufacture ATEX-certified blowers.
Can your blowers handle furnace combustion air for UAE steel plants?
Yes, sized from the fuel input and corrected for the local air density.
Do you cover Dubai and Abu Dhabi separately?
This page covers the UAE generally, since conditions and requirements are similar across the emirates.
