Industrial Centrifugal Blowers in Egypt
Egypt has one of the largest cement and steel industries in Africa and the Middle East, alongside fertiliser, chemicals, glass, ceramics, textiles, and food processing, and expanding industrial zones around Cairo, Alexandria, and the Suez corridor, covering an unusually broad mix of the applications a general-purpose blower serves. Blowers in these plants face desert dust, summer heat, and, along the north coast, humid salt air. This page covers how those conditions shape selection, and the range of combustion, cooling, drying, and dust-collection duties found across Egyptian industry.
Cairo Heat and Air Density
Cairo and most of the Nile Valley sit near sea level, with summer air temperatures reaching about 42 °C. At 25 m altitude and 42 °C, dry-air density is about 1.12 kg/m³, roughly 93% of standard.
Example. A process duty needs 350 mm WC actual pressure. At 93% of standard density, the equivalent standard-air rating is 350 × 1.204 ÷ 1.117 ≈ 377 mm WC, comfortably within our 500 mm WC standard maximum. See gas temperature, altitude and density correction.
Cement Plants
Egypt’s cement plants need kiln-area combustion air, air-slide conveying, and dust collection at transfer points, with kiln draught fans themselves outside our range. Dust is the defining condition, since deposits unbalance impellers and abrasive dust erodes blades over time. See cement plants.
Steel and Metals
Steel mills and foundries need furnace combustion air, heat-removal ventilation in melt shops and rolling bays, and clean, cool air for electrical rooms. Furnace fume extraction and large-scale dedusting fans are outside our range. See steel plants and foundries and non-ferrous metals.
Fertiliser, Chemicals, and Glass
Egypt’s gas-based fertiliser and chemical plants have hazardous areas and corrosive atmospheres, and glass and ceramics manufacturing needs kiln combustion air, cooling, and spray-drying duties. See chemical and fertiliser plants and glass, ceramics and refractories.
Desert Dust and Sandstorms
Seasonal sandstorms carry fine dust that coats equipment and loads filters. Dust deposits unbalance the impeller, filters on supply fans load quickly, and abrasion erodes blade edges. Use intake filtration or placement away from dust where practical, allow cleaning access, and monitor vibration. See maintaining industrial blowers.
The North Coast and the Delta
Plants near Alexandria and the north coast face humid, salt-laden air that corrodes standard finishes. Choose durable coating systems, protected fasteners, sealed motors, and casings that drain, particularly for scrubber and cooling equipment that handles wet gas continuously.
Industrial Zones and Logistics
New industrial zones and logistics parks are building large halls with heavy heat loads from process, lighting, and solar gain on metal roofs. Roof and wall extraction with adequate make-up air, sized on real density, is the standard answer. See ventilation and exhaust.
Textiles and Food Processing
Egypt’s textile mills and food processors need drying, cooling, and general ventilation, with lint and fibre a particular concern for filter and blade fouling in textile applications. See industrial drying and process air and food, agro and textile plants.
Ports and Suez Corridor Logistics
The Suez Canal corridor supports substantial port and logistics activity, with large warehouses and workshops needing heat-removal ventilation and equipment cooling, corrected for the coastal heat and, in the north, humidity. Free-zone manufacturing along the corridor follows the same general ventilation and process-air patterns found in industrial zones elsewhere in the country. See factory and industrial ventilation.
Power Generation
Egypt’s power plants need combustion air for auxiliary boilers, process cooling, and turbine hall ventilation, with utility-scale boiler draught fans on major generating units outside our range. See power plants.
Commissioning and Verification
Once installed, measure airflow against the blower curve, confirm rotation, and record baseline vibration and motor current for each blower. Check the temperature rise across the building at a representative heat load, and look for blocked openings and closed dampers, the most common causes of underperformance found at commissioning. See blower curves, system curves and operating point drift.
Where Our Range Fits
NextAir Systems manufactures centrifugal blowers up to 800 HP (about 597 kW) and up to 500 mm WC (about 4.9 kPa) static pressure, with backward-curved and forward-curved wheels, single-inlet and double-inlet designs, and high-temperature blowers for furnaces up to 800 °C, kilns up to 650 °C, and ovens up to 500 °C. That covers combustion air, cooling, drying, and dust collection across Egyptian industry.
What to Specify
- Design ambient temperature and coastal exposure.
- Duty: combustion air, cooling, drying, or dust collection.
- Dust conditions and intake filtration.
- Hazardous-area classification, if any.
- Coating and corrosion environment.
Standardising Across Multiple Plants
Egyptian industrial groups running several cement, steel, or fertiliser plants benefit from standardising blower models across sites, which simplifies spares holding and lets maintenance teams move between plants without relearning equipment. Before specifying a new duty at any site, check whether a model already in use elsewhere in the group covers it.
Corrosion Protection Checklist
For any blower near the north coast or handling wet or corrosive process gas, confirm the coating system and its expected durability category, the fastener material, the motor’s ingress protection rating, and whether the housing drains fully at its lowest point. These four items, checked together, prevent most of the early corrosion failures seen on coastal and process equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Egyptian heat affect blower selection?
At 42 °C near sea level, air density is about 93% of standard, so blowers develop less pressure at the same speed and duty calculations must be recalculated.
How do sandstorms affect centrifugal blowers?
They deposit dust on wheels, load filters, and erode blade edges, so plan intake filtration, cleaning access, and vibration monitoring.
Can you supply kiln draught fans for cement plants?
No. Those are much larger fans outside our range. We cover combustion air, conveying, and dust collection around the kiln.
Do north-coast plants need special coatings?
Usually, since salt and humidity corrode standard finishes, so specify a durable coating system and sealed motors.
Can your blowers handle glass furnace combustion air?
Yes, sized from the fuel input and corrected for the site's real air density.
