Industrial Centrifugal Blowers in India
India’s industry is vast and varied: steel and cement on a global scale, coal and metal mining, thermal and renewable power, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and an expanding manufacturing base. Conditions range from Himalayan foothills to coastal plains, from 45 °C pre-monsoon heat to weeks of monsoon humidity. This page covers the conditions that most change blower selection in India, alongside the full range of combustion, cooling, drying, conveying, and dust-collection applications found across Indian industry.
Northern Plains Heat and Density
Across the northern plains, pre-monsoon air reaches 45 °C at about 220 m altitude. At those conditions, dry-air density is about 1.08 kg/m³, roughly 90% of standard.
Example. A process duty needs 350 mm WC actual pressure. At 90% of standard density, the equivalent standard-air rating is 350 × 1.204 ÷ 1.081 ≈ 390 mm WC, within our 500 mm WC standard maximum but noticeably above a sea-level figure. See gas temperature, altitude and density correction.
Steel and Cement
India’s integrated and secondary steel plants need furnace combustion air, heat-removal ventilation, and equipment cooling, with furnace fume extraction and large-scale dedusting fans outside our range. With one of the largest cement industries in the world, India has thousands of kiln-area combustion air, air-slide, and dust-collection duties, with the kiln draught fan itself outside our range. See steel plants and cement plants.
Coal and Metal Mining
India’s coal and metal mines need combustion air and cooling for processing plant, dust collection at transfer points, and, for underground operations, auxiliary extraction within our pressure range for non-gassy workings. Many underground coal mines are gassy, so Group I requirements apply, and we do not manufacture that equipment. Tell us first if your mine is gassy. See mining and mineral processing and combustible dust and hazardous atmospheres.
Power, Chemicals, and Manufacturing
Thermal power stations need combustion air for auxiliary boilers and process cooling, with utility boiler draught fans outside our range. Chemical and petrochemical sites have hazardous areas needing specialist equipment, since we do not currently manufacture ATEX-certified blowers. See power plants and chemical and fertiliser plants.
Monsoon Humidity and Corrosion
The monsoon brings weeks of humid air, and coastal regions add salt. Standard finishes corrode, motors take on moisture, and condensation collects inside casings. Use durable coating systems, sealed motors with suitable ingress protection, and drained casings. See fume extraction and scrubber systems.
Dust and Heatwaves
Dry-season dust loads filters and coats blades, and heatwaves push motors toward their temperature limits. Check the ambient rating of motors and controls, keep impellers clean, and monitor vibration. See maintaining industrial blowers.
Energy Efficiency and Supply Variations
Energy cost makes efficiency a priority, and speed control saves substantially on variable duties. Voltage fluctuations and interruptions occur in some areas of the country, so check motor and drive suitability for the local supply and sequence restarts so multiple blowers do not start together and overload a recovering grid. See flow control for blowers.
Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals
India’s large pharmaceutical and fine-chemical manufacturing sector needs general ventilation and process air for support systems around clean rooms and solvent-handling areas, with classified solvent zones needing a specialist ATEX supplier since we do not currently manufacture that equipment. Non-classified plant-room ventilation and cooling remain within our range. See chemical and fertiliser plants.
Documentation and Approvals on Large Projects
Large Indian projects usually involve consultants, inspection agencies, and formal approval of vendors and documents. For blowers, agree early what documentation is required: performance curves for the actual duty and site density, based on tests to a recognised standard, and material certificates. See blower performance testing.
Where Our Range Fits
NextAir Systems manufactures centrifugal blowers up to 800 HP (about 597 kW) and up to 500 mm WC (about 4.9 kPa) static pressure, with backward-curved and forward-curved wheels, single-inlet and double-inlet designs, and high-temperature blowers for furnaces up to 800 °C, kilns up to 650 °C, and ovens up to 500 °C. That covers combustion air, cooling, drying, conveying, and dust collection across Indian industry, in non-classified areas.
What to Specify
- Site altitude, design ambient temperature, and monsoon or coastal exposure.
- Duty: combustion air, cooling, drying, conveying, or dust collection.
- Hazardous-area classification and approval scheme, if any.
- For mines: whether gassy, fan role, duct size, and length.
- Fans, redundancy, and control approach.
Textile and Ceramic Manufacturing
India’s substantial textile and ceramic tile manufacturing sectors need drying, cooling, and dust collection at grinding and finishing lines, with lint and ceramic dust each demanding different filtration and cleaning approaches. See glass, ceramics and refractories and food, agro and textile plants.
Standardising Across a Large Group
Indian industrial groups operating multiple plants across different states benefit from standardising blower specifications, which simplifies spares logistics across a large country and lets maintenance teams transfer knowledge between sites regardless of location.
Foundries and Automotive Supply Chain
India’s large foundry and automotive component sector needs furnace combustion air, mold and core drying, and casting cooling, following the same patterns described for foundries generally across the country’s many industrial clusters. See foundries and non-ferrous metals.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Indian summer heat affect blower selection?
At 45 °C and about 220 m, air density is roughly 90% of standard, so blowers develop about 90% of rated pressure and duty calculations must be recalculated.
Can your blowers handle steel or cement plant furnace combustion air?
Yes, sized from the fuel input and corrected for the site's real air density.
Do you supply blowers for gassy coal mines?
Gassy mines need Group I equipment, which we do not manufacture. Tell us first so we can say whether we can supply what you need.
How does the monsoon affect blowers?
Humidity corrodes finishes and puts moisture into motors, so use durable coatings, sealed motors, and drained casings.
Can you supply hazardous-area blowers for Indian chemical plants?
Not currently. Classified zones need a specialist supplier.
