NextAir Systems is an ethylene scrubber manufacturer. We design and build ethylene scrubbers in our own 30,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, from 1,200 to 30,000 CMH in a single unit, in horizontal and vertical vessel configurations, with multi-bank systems above that. An ethylene scrubber removes a gas the fruit itself produces, which is what makes controlled atmosphere storage and long-distance export possible. It works continuously while the room is sealed, drawing storage air through proprietary oxidizing media and returning it with the ethylene removed. Single-Unit Range: 1,200 to 30,000 CMH

Nine standard sizes cover single-unit duty, and sizes in between are built to the project.

Scrubber airflow comes from the room volume and the air change rate needed to keep ethylene below your crop’s sensitivity threshold, and not from room size alone. For illustration, a 2,400 m³ room cycled twice an hour needs 4,800 CMH, so a 5,000 CMH unit is the nearest standard size. The air change rate itself depends on how much ethylene the crop produces, how long it is stored, and how well the room is sealed.

Horizontal and Vertical Configurations

We build ethylene scrubbers as horizontal and vertical vessels. A horizontal vessel suits spaces with limited headroom, and a vertical vessel saves floor area where there is height to use. We choose between them from your plant room, your airflow, and how the media will be changed.

Multi-Bank Systems Above 30,000 CMH

Large storage complexes use several scrubbers in parallel. Banks also let you change the media in one unit while the others keep scrubbing. For a 60,000 CMH requirement that must still be met while one unit is out for media change-out, three 30,000 CMH units are the usual arrangement, because any two still deliver 60,000 CMH.

Media and Replacement

Our scrubbers use proprietary NextAir media that oxidizes ethylene. Replacement is planned against the cumulative ethylene load for the whole storage season, not against the room’s initial capacity, which is why the storage duration and crop are part of every quotation. A highly ethylene-productive variety needs meaningfully more capacity than a lower-ethylene crop in the same volume.

Our Factory Floor

Production takes place in our 30,000 sq ft factory, which is equipped with:

• Motorized roller machines for rolling vessel shells
• MIG and TIG welding lines for vessels and frames
• EOT cranes with a 10-ton capacity, for moving vessels and heavy assemblies
• Hydraulic shearing machines for plate and sheet
• Computerized dynamic balancing machines for blower impellers
• Hydraulic press brake machines for bending
• Test instruments and the basic machines of a working factory

Vessels, frames, and fittings are fabricated here, so connection positions and layout can follow your plant room. Bought-out items, such as fan motors, are selected and matched to the unit.

• The crop or crops, and the varieties, since ethylene production varies widely
• The ripeness stage at storage, the loading rate, and the planned storage duration
• How well the room is sealed, since infiltration adds to the load
